Celtic swept into the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals with a ruthless four-goal display at Tannadice Park. The Hoops dismantled Dundee United 4-0 on 15 August 2026 to make sure their name is in the hat for the next round. Four different players scored the goals in a fantastic, fast-paced performance away from home.

From the first whistle, Celtic showed huge energy on the pitch. The away team passed the ball with speed and took control of the tempo early in the match. The traveling Celtic supporters were kept cheering all afternoon as the team delivered a classic cup display.

Standing between the posts for Celtic was goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo. Sinisalo gave a solid and confident performance in net, keeping a valuable clean sheet. At the other end, Jack Walton lined up in goal for Dundee United. Walton was forced into action right from the start as Celtic went on the attack.

Quickfire First Half Strikes

Celtic grabbed hold of the tie with two goals in two minutes during a lethal first-half spell. The home side simply had no answer to Celtic's sharp movement in the box.

The opening goal came in the 22nd minute from a wonderfully taken set-piece. Benjamin Nygren stepped up to take a corner kick and delivered a fine ball right into the middle of the box. Defender Auston Trusty rose above the defenders to connect with a powerful header. Trusty guided his header past Dundee United goalkeeper Jack Walton to open the scoring and make it 1-0.

Celtic immediately pushed for another goal and got it in the 24th minute. Striker Kasper Høgh collected the ball in the middle of the pitch and picked out Camilo Durán with an accurate pass. Durán took control of the ball quickly and kept his head. Durán calmly slotted a left-footed finish past Jack Walton to double the lead and make it 2-0.

That quick double strike gave Celtic total control of the match, leaving Dundee United with a huge mountain to climb before the break.

Woodwork Rattles Five Times

Dundee United tried to respond after going two goals down, but luck was completely against them throughout the game. Amazingly, Dundee United struck the woodwork an unbelievable five times over the 90 minutes.

Every time the home side got a shot off that beat the defense, the ball crashed off the post or the crossbar. The woodwork came to Celtic's rescue again and again, denying Dundee United any chance of getting back into the game. Viljami Sinisalo held firm in the Celtic goal to preserve his clean sheet through all five frame-rattling moments.

Nygren And Tounekti Star

Celtic came out for the second half ready to finish off the job. In the 54th minute, another brilliant team move brought Celtic's third goal.

Benjamin Nygren spotted Sebastian Tounekti making a clever run into space behind the defense. Nygren supplied Tounekti with a perfectly placed pass that split the back line. Tounekti took the opportunity in style, applying a neat finish past Jack Walton to score Celtic's third goal and make it 3-0.

In the 63rd minute, the two attacking stars swapped roles to create Celtic's fourth goal. Sebastian Tounekti turned provider, crafting an assist for Benjamin Nygren. Nygren capped off a brilliant individual performance by finishing past Jack Walton to score Celtic's fourth goal of the afternoon.

Nygren was directly involved in three of Celtic's four goals, providing two assists and scoring one goal himself. Tounekti was equally effective, finishing the match with both a goal and an assist to his name.

Five Substitutes Seal Victory

With the victory locked down at 4-0, Celtic used the squad depth to refresh the team in the second half. Celtic introduced five second-half substitutes to replace starting players and keep up the intensity.

Luke McCowan came off the bench into the midfield to keep the ball moving cleanly. James Forrest was introduced on the wing, adding experience and speed out wide. Young defender Dane Murray stepped into the backline to help guard the clean sheet. Mika Baur came on in an attacking role to provide fresh running in the final third. Haissem Hassan also entered the field on the flank to give Celtic extra pace down the side.

All five substitutes slotted straight into the action, helping Celtic control the closing stages of the game without any fuss. The 4-0 victory puts Celtic through to the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals in total comfort. Celtic fans will now look forward to the draw for the next round after watching a brilliant goal-filled performance on the road.
